Do I unscrew the "Allen" screws and remove all the "guts" in the hub, to get to the spindle and/or/how does the "U-joint" come out? By the way, I've got the O-Rings off the ??? whacthamacallit. fount me a spindle in TN. for $30.00, but I gotta give them mine. Thanks for any help. and by the way what else should I replace, while replacing the spindle???

your on the right track, pull out those allen screws and remove the outer part of the locking hub. next there will be a snapring on the axle shaft, remove that. Then there is a larg snapring that goes in around the edge of the wheel hub, its a pain to remvoe, but youll get the hang of it. Next pull out the rest of the guts of the locking hub...be careful cause there is a spring behindthere. Now you need a special socket to remove TWO wheel bearing nuts. Take the outer bearing out, then gently pull off the rotor/wheel hub assembly. NOW is a good time to check/replace/repack bearings and replace the wheel bearing seal. Now you will just see the spindle. There will be 5? nuts i believe. Take them off and get a good hammer and a 4x4 block or 2x4. IT may take a good bit of beatin to get it off, but dont damage it. Once you get the spindle off, reverse the process and be sure to put antiseize on the spidle bolts, and also be sure to put a new bearing/seal in the spidle. GOOD LUCK

help me change my spindle

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Dec-02 AT 00:59 AM (EST)]Okay, Now I have the "stuff" off and the new spindle on. I bought new inner and outter bearings/seal. Now I need to know in what order does all the "guts" go back in, cause my uncle took some out and I took the rest out. I have the Haynes manual but of all the pictures my "guts" don't match whats pictured. And in all the pictures, There's only one spring, Well I have 2 springs, 3 counting the one around the "****". Any advice (funny sounding words) explaining the parts will be a big help. I know what the spring, LockRing, LockNut, the Retainer/'tween the two nuts, and Sleeve/Ring Assembly are. Not sure about the O'Ring. Isn't that Rubber?/Can it be metal? I have something (metal) that looks like a "flat" spring that just "coils" around twice. What is this/were's it go? 'bout an inch/half diameter. By the way, what does the small LockRing snap onto?? Again any advice and pictures/illustrations would greatly be appreciated. Pictures say a thousand words. Except the pic. in the manual, they might say 2 or 3 words. Oh yeah, Believe I have the "Internal", The "****" ya turn is on the inside the silver "Cap".

By the way, Thanks 85351 takin' it off was pretty easy, and found the large LockRing.
