hey
finally got my dream truck, 07' f-250 crew cab powerstroke, i want to put an exhaust system that will sound great but also improve mpg, i ve heard some info on banks monster exhaust, just wondering if it's for real
an exhaust won't really improve mileage at least not enough for it to pay for itself. I have an 4" MBRP turbo back and I like it but theres not really one thats better than the other. I do know the Banks system is overpriced, but so are all of them considering what you can have an exhaust shop make one for.
The biggest improvement you will see is with your EGT's (exhaust gas temperature) Most people see about a 200 degree drop with a turbo back setup.
Keep in mind though that a turbo back system will most likely void your warranty and you won't pass emissions. I would talk to your dealer about warranty issues and possibly getting a system that you can bolt your cat back up if need be for emissions testing
I wouldn't spend the money on banks its over priced in my book. I would go with MBRP what is what i have on 2 of my trucks and they sound great. They were ez to instal i put my duals in my myself, but there isnt a real diffrence in exhaust systems i think.
MBRP all the way. Very reasonable. I got my 4'' turbo back (just regular steel) for like $320ish? shipped. Thats the off road version, but I also installed a muffler delete so its straight piped from the turbo all the way to the tip.

Just a quick question. do you not have emisions testing down there? I have to test every 2 years and they wont even look at it w/o a cat. Also if the smog cops spot a vehicle blowing to much crap out the tailpipe they can yank you for an on-the-spot test. we also have to watch our noise levels- which burns my butt a little when i listen to those Harleys fly by with open pipes and the cops dont even batt an eye. ( - just a little)
A simple muffler delete is a cheap and easy way to go if you dont want to spend a lot of money. I did it on mine and saw a MPG increase although I did an intake elbow at the same time as well.

I didn't know you guys did smog testing out in Ontario, thought it was a BC thing only. We don't have it here in Alberta at all yet but I'm sure one day it will be here as well.
Only visual inspection here in NC for ALL diesels and vehicles either 95 and older OR vehicles that have a GVWR of 8600# or more.
Also, replying to rollerstuds post above, there is a huge difference between EMISSIONS testing and SMOG testing. Aa far as I know there is VERY few places aside from California that are doing smog testing. NC did away with smog several years ago.

Ditto...did the same thing. Absolutely no complaints. Gotta sweet whistle to it now...
