Question Check engine light on

I have a 2006 PSD auto with a turbo back kit no cat, air intake, and the Edge ez module always set on the low hp setting for economy. All my parts have been on for at least 1,000 miles. I just got back from a trip the the mountains and on the way up the first mtn the engine light came on. I used my scanner and checked the code it came up (turbo charger underboost) When the light came on the boost gauge was at 25psi which is where its usually at when towing and climbing hills. I'm not sure if the long steep hill caused this but I would think it would have read overboost. After resetting it it came on again about an hour later while making a turn with very little throttle. Reset it again and this time it lasted 300 miles and came on at 60mph with 10psi of boost. I finally had it and took out the edge. I got back in the truck and started it up and the light went out. Now I'm confused being that I thought that the code would have to be cleared. Did the Edge cause this? I haven't had the time to put the miles on it since taking the module off.

it is possible that it did. have seen something similar in the past. these trucks are extremely sensitive espeacially if you have a california truck

If the code was P0299, it could mean over or underboost, there are no separate codes to differentiate between the two. It could be a code induced by your tuner. Keep it stock for a while and see if it reoccurs.

That makes sense the first time the light came on it probably was for over boost. I know for sure the boost was between 20-30 when it came on the first time. After that the boost never went past 10psi. The second time it came on I was turning around. Every time code PO299 came up. I'm gonna have to drive it a couple more days and see if the light comes on again. The truck ran fine with the light on. All the gauges were in the normal range and there doesn't seem to to be anything wrong with it. Thanks for the help!

Be careful with the overboost issue. Once you start getting near 30 psi, you're risking headgasket failure.

Hey Junior, Im sure Im going to be late in asking this question but maybe you still remember. I just installed the edge juice platnium. I have a 2004 Ford F350 CC Lariat 4wd 6.0L diesel. I just got it back from the dealer for a failed FICM that was defective and covered under warranty. My truck has 47k miles. I had about 30 miles and I got a P0299 message. Im reading that in most cases the Turbo is gone. I simply cared to know if you found the fault in the Edge or was your turbo out or maybe the VGT?

I recently had the P0299 code and the boost gauge looked normal. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the turbo. Said it was rusted and coked up inside.

my truck is in the shop. i just dropped it off in the morning. Im awaiting the outcome. service tech told me not to rely on these posting. not always accurate. i beg to differ. well see what happens. I noticed a spot of rust on mine, i asked about it right before it was serviced for an earlier issue and was told it was normal. now that i got this code, im sure it wasnt.

the rust you see will not affect the turbo. the 299 code is for underboost situation but could be a number of things and not just the turbo. also i agree that you cant pay attention to these threads, because some people know what they are talking about and some throw alot of words together to feel important. several times i have had people not listen to me and listen to someone else. i realize i may not have all the answers but you realy have to learn to seperate the good from the bad.
