I am a new owner of a 7.3 powerstroke F-350 4x4. It is a 96 model with 259,000 miles. I am having some type of fuel problems I think? Truck will start and idle fine but add a few rpms about 2 grand and will run for about a minute then quit me. resembles fuel pump problems on the old gasoline models. let it sit and will restart. have change fuel filter to no avail. I would greatly appreciate any info.
thanks.
tj it will start in about five minutes. when intially started it will idle forever, but go to about 2 grand on tach it will run about a minute and die. I was stuck on the road. by the way triple A will not pay for a 1 ton flatbed tow. fyi
Cleaning the screen certainly won't hurt and you could check fuel pressure after it quits and while cranking but I will bet you won't find an issue with fuel pressure.
It sounds to me like a sensor that has a heat related failure or the IPR o-rings are shot (or other low HPOP issue). The only trick to those is 5 minutes is not very long to sit to lose heat.
