You don't need a "filler" piece or extra pipe. Go to NAPA and ask for a 3/4" hose plug. I use to use these all the time to plug vacuum ports. NAPA will have them on a display rack.

For what?

I just used the 90º hose from the doghouse to the intake. All I needed was the 3/4" vacuum plug, straight male hose connector, the long 3/4" heater hose, a few hose clamps, and some zip ties.

Simple and cheap! Don't get conned into all the kits. No one will sell a simple kit because the price wouldn't be worth it. People are just over engineering it and then charging you more money for the over engineering part. There's no benefit to you, the engine, or big benefit to the environment for the overpriced and over engineered kits.

You right, you don't 'need' one. I just wanted one. I didn't plug mine because I wanted zero restrictions from the filter to the turbo so I made the new piece instead. Sometimes, though, some people would rather buy a ready made kit than spend the time and fuel driving around town collecting parts. I got a kit from Tymar because his comes with fuel/oil compatible hose instead of heater hose that the oil will degrade over time. And on top of it all, even if I used heater hose, it would have cost me as much or more getting the parts local than then kit costs. My $.02.

Here's my install from last week:

Filler piece

Connection to 90*

Looped over master cylinder

Under truck sloping downward as it goes back with no low spots

I didn't run my hose all the way back. I didn't realize how much CCV I was going to get, which is a lot. I may end up running a longer hose and doing what you did.

People say that the fumes coming from it smell really bad but I don't know for sure. That's why most run it clear back to the rear. My pickup is dirty as hell right now and the rear of the pumpkin was the only area that wasn't caked in mud or splashed with muddy water. That's why I ended mine there, not only because it's gradually sloping down but also it is less likely to clog or get gummed up.

did that mod on my old truck and the smoke/fumes coming out of the hose was too much for me, ended up having a bung welded into the exhaust and had the hose connected to it so it all went out the tailpipe..
