50jd60 I figured they would use most of the old parts but the dealer said I was getting a new short block. I assume that means the engine block, crank, bearings and pistons.

Typically a "short" block does not have the heads. Basically it is the block and internal parts. This usually does not include heads unless you buy a (ready for this one!) Long Block. The long block will have in most cases have the heads and sheet metal.
Ok boys I got my truck back. Here is the scoop, fords mechanic used oil dye to find the leak. He found the leak at the Bed Plate. Removed engine and inspected Bed Plate Gasket Groove. Minimum spec is .167 in. for width and depth. The current measurement was .155 in.. Bed plate gasket groove is OUT of Spec. Replace short block assy., reinstalled engine assy. and cleaned charge air cooler tubes, road tested. They gave me 3 yrs or 100k mile warranty. I was out of town when my wife picked up the truck. She was a bit pissed off that they left the truck on empty!! But I'll fill it up this weekend and drive it of a while.

Well done. Looks like they really dug into the spec to find it was out of spec by .012". Most people just swap parts. My guess is they did a good job. I would call the fuel in the tank just part of the cost of repair because it sounds as if they knew the "right" fix and you got a new engine and 100000 warranty. Congrats.
I'm back!!! Guess what, the dealer found another oil leak! I 'll be dropping it off soon to see if they can find the leak and fix it. I'll keep you posted!
