Talking Small Block Ford Triple-Duce...UPDATE...

There are so many good car innovations that get a bad reputation because of technician ignorance. I could make a LOOOOOoooooonnngg list of examples, but here's a short one:

57 Chevy Rochester FI. Dealer techs didn't understand them so they recommended a four barrel.

Multiple carburetor systems on all makes and models. Many people don't have the patience or the carb theory knowledge so they take em off and put on a four barrel.

Here's one that is MUCH more simple with a few wires, a switch and a coil, but the technicians found one wire, one switch and one coil to be too complicated, so they condemned it as no good. This was the Doug Nash 4+3 overdrive in the late eighties Vettes. I have one and have repaired it several times and it's as simple as a light switch and a bulb, but the techs couldn't deal with it.

In the first ten years of EFI, the same thing was happening in the shops. The same thing still happens with hobbyists. EFI IMHO is probably the greatest improvement to the internal combustion engine EVER! It amazes me how many people I see on discussion forums of all brands that rip it off and put an antiquated carburetor in it's place. For all out racing, this makes horsepower sense in some cases, but it is usually due to lack of knowledge or resistance to change.

So Rockher-man put on those three deuces, make it run right and thumb your nose at the naysayers.
OK...it took a while...but I finally found one...apparently it was just my turn...not too many other bidders...

...as of last night...it is mine!

Man...The_Girl is gonna kill me when she finds out about this one...

End carb’s are list # 2868 and both dated 392
Center carb is list # 2867, dated 391
It has the factory fuel rail and factory progressive throttle linkage
The air cleaner base looks to be factory
The ''COBRA'' lid is probably not factory correct...

...but it looks good and fits well!

Ya know...after shopping around & pricing new, single 4-bbl, dual-plane
intakes with a good 600-CFM carb w/electric choke...

I really only spent about $400.00 more...

I have a written guarantee from the seller that this set-up works
and was just removed from a running Small Block Mustang...
...but hey......

From the numbers I've researched so far...I figure this rig should be from a
1963-1964 Small Block 260,289,302 CID Comet/Fairlane/Falcon...

I was planning on using factory cast iron head anyway...so I'll be able to port-match everything no matter what heads I end up using...I wont want
to grind much on the intake......

One more thing to cross of the list...NO MORE SHOPPING...for now......

Thumbs up Trip's to win...

...thanks man...one more bonus is that each one of these carb's
is rated at 200 CFM for a total of 600 CFM...

...at least thats what I've been able to find out so far...

Should work out perfect for a 302-based StreetRod......

My '56 Effie only weighs in at 3140 lb.s without a driver...

For coolness, the 3 carb set-up, for best tune, the air gap (and I'm not a big edlebrock fan but I am impressed with this manifold)!

Exclamation Update from Holley...

...and I quote... ...

"These were listed for '63-'64 Comet, Fairlane, and Falcon. 260ci and 289ci V-8 engines.

Holley supplied the carbs only...Ford supplied their own intakes cast by
Buddy Barr "

The center (Primary) carb, list #2867 rated @ 200 cfm. Dated 391
Build Date Equals; 1963, Sept.-1st week

The outer (Secondary) carb's, list #2868 are both rated @ 265cfm each.
Dated 392; Build Date; 1963,Sept.-2nd week

TOTAL cfm = 730cfm

This is considered a mid-rise intake...from what I have been told...

Found a fellow in Fl. runnin' a bussiness named Greg Donahue...

Great pricing on tri power stuff...check him out...LOTS of kool parts...

Just thought I'd pass it on...<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 class=inlineimg title="Stick Out Tongue" smilieid="6" stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" alt="" src="http://images.ford-trucks.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" v:shapetype o<>
