I started this forum just to see if anyone has done it. I didn't intend to start a **** war and get bashed about taking it off. Sorry for asking a simple ? As stated b4 it doesn't affect the operation of the airbags it is just to inform the owner if peoplke are that concerned they can look in the owners manual I'm sure the same warning is in there. Also stated b4 its only for appeaence and it will look 100 times better all ford had to do is relocate the stupid stickers behind the visors but they didn't and I want to take them off and I will get them off and since it is such a big deal on this forum I won't keep youall updated. This is a forum for people to ask other ? and give responces not to get bashed.
My interior is light grey, so they don't stand out as bad as they would on black,,, I just put a CD holder over them,,, Needed a place to stash my tunes anyways!!!
Sadly, those labels are there so that when some moron gets his nose pushed through the back of his head in a head-on collision, his lawyer can't argue that no one told his client that the air bag alone would'nt save him and he needed a seat belt too. Or that his kid is dead because no one told him not to put the child seat in the front seat. Or that a three ton, four wheel drive truck doesn't handle like a Corvette which is why it rolled over on top of him. The manufacturer's lawyer can argue that the labels are right there on the visor, and if they aren't, then someone went through a LOT of trouble to remove them.
They're designed to protect us from ourselves and the manufacturer from the lawyers. You're going to have to destroy the visor fabric to remove them.
Why not remove the visor, take it to an auto upholstry shop and have them make a matching cover that will slip over the existing visor.
I am amazed that a safety minded union member would even think about removing a warning label. It makes me wonder what other safety features may have been removed from jobs he was working on because they "stuck out like a sore thumb".
It's funny, I was noticing the warning sticker stating not to lean against the side of the car or you could be injured by the side air bag. Forget falling asleep in a car anymore! Crap is popping out from everywhere in an accident! Bad enough to get hit, but then to have stuff popping out that could break your neck or something! I think the air bags are getting excessive, but maybe it is for the better.
I remember hearing someone complain once that a 250 wasn't available with side airbags. Geeze, something that hits the side of a 250 is gonna hurt! Either another 250/superduty or an 18 wheeler. Not sure how much a side air bag would help.
OP/zss42002.... I think some of the attitude came when you argued that they HAD to be removable esp after the posts that they weren't.
Your best best would probably be to paint them black, it would be like getting a graphic off of a t-shirt, sure it can probably be done. But at what cost. You're better off going out and buying a new t-shirt.
Get some Marhyde spray paint at your local auto parts store. Its for vinyl surfaces. I used some on door panels ,changing from tan to black , and was very pleased.
Check with your local Ford parts guy, see if the service part comes without the sticker. I screwed the one up in my former 03 F150 and replaced it with a service part. It was cheap and didn't have a sticker.
