1986 F800 Brake problem
I am getting a light on the dash for the EGR and the brakes.
I can't find any diagrams or books anywhere to diagnose problems, or parts.
I can see a part that is leaking red fluid(no idea) it is a part that is beside the master cyl. and it has a wire coming down from it.
It looks like a sensor of some kind, bit it resembles a spark plug???
I know sounds weird?
ANY help would be great?
This is what I am trying to find out?
I know even the big truck Ford dealer has no idea.
I bought it in June of this year, and still have found nothing.
It was originally a fire truck, and built for the fire dept. from Ford.
So who knows what they did?
That "plug" looking thing near the brake booster. That IS into the master cylinder casting or other component connected to the brakes, correct?
This would be a pressure switch. Since it is leaking, it needs to be replaced and that will probably take care of your brake light.
I love how a 'big truck Ford dealer' wouldn't have a clue about an '86....
The 370/429 "Lima" truck engines differ in a couple of ways from car 429s, but it's the same basic engine.
Get out the Yellow Pages and find a shop that works on these.
Numberdummy on this site will be able to direct you to a source for either a book or cd or dvd for parts info and possibly more.
Good luck.
They had every book, cd, and microfiche they could find in that building.
I guess if they knew what it was thay would not of passed it through the safety check.
I do hear a whistle when I am driving ever since I replaced the carb, and have again drove myself nuts replacing all kinds of vacuum hoses.
I do not get a whistle when I am parked and rev the engine, only when I am under load and driving.
