mud tires

Do mud tires eat up horsepower on the highway compared to on road tires and all terrain tires thanks.

if they are over size they will, but if not they wont, your ride quality will get worse and the tires will hum though. those things dont bother me though, i actually like the hum.

The same size mud tires will not cost you any horse over the same size street tire. There are also some tires that do pretty well in the mud and don't exhibit the negative on-road characteristics of serious mud tires like Orange described. The BFG MT comes to mind. 'Course, there is nothing quite like the sound of 44" Boggers at 60 mph going down the highway

Yeah, the new style BFG muds are great. I bought them simply because they have good on/off road characteristics.

Primary rig is NOW TOTALLED :-X23 :
95' F-150 EB 300/6 5 spd with 4" Superlift, MSD, Ram Air, Gibson Exhaust, 32" BFG Muds
Some pictures in my gallery.

Then theres:
88' F-250 Superduty 351 + c6
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 and a
3 spd column shifter. Top speed, 65mph, Go Baby Go!

The newest addition to the Ford family is a 99' Mustang GT 4.6L

The BFG mud terrains are what i swear by. I love my set and wouldn't put anything else on my truck. They're awesome off road and pretty quiet on the road.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-03 AT 08:33 PM (EST)]Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips are probably the best available tire in a 37" & 38" size.

Hope this helps.

Not sure, might need to do some fender trimming. Here is the fitment guide from ntwonline.

take a look at my gallery pics. i had 38x16x15 super swamper tsl's on my 75 with only 4 inches of lift. they fit the wheel wells good and only rubbed at full turn on the radius arms and no rubbing at full flex. the reason i went with 35s when i bought new tires was that i was breakin too mus=ch stuff with thm big 38s.
'75 F-100 4x4, 4" lift
35x15.5x15 super swamper TSL/SX
mini-spooled 9" rear end
390 w/ cam,headers,
and 4 barrell edelbrock
