Spent the last 30 minutes reading posts. Found some conflicting info. Need some clarification...
Which fluids in what and how often?
-center differential/transfer case (not to be confused with rear axle)
-rear axle differential
the tranny info seems to be pretty much the same i found... NO mercon V, progressive flush, then four qt exchange every other engine oil change
i am disappointed at the fact that no one has replied to my question. I have been posting on FTE for a few years in a different forum, but this is my first one the escape forum. I have never waited this long for a reply.
you might consult your owner manual as the fluid spec is there. In addition, there is also a maintenance schedule "booklet" which shows the schedule for most items as far as I could see.
Further from the 2005 manual, the "transfer case" fluid is "good for the service life" of the case UNLESS you have "waterized" your vehicle or there is a leak.
I haven't read up on the intervals, but I run synthetic fluids in all my drivetrains. I run mobil 1 in the engine and royal purple in the rest. Less heat and frictions = better mpg and less wear on parts.
