I'm wondering if anyone else has had issues with the door skins coming unglued (don't see any pinch welds or spotwelds) from the door body?
The company I work for has had 4 other door skins do this... we own about 50 E350's with the oldest probably being an '04.
In my case, I can say that no one has run into the door (car or person) nothing has been slammed in the door to cause this. Now we do have some high winds here on the Texas Gulf Coast, so the wind has yankeed it out of my hands in the past a couple of times.
When I open the door to far now I can see the main part of the door flex where the hinges are bolted and it flexes (can see the door slide in the skin)
I'm very disapointed in Ford on this one.
It looks like I'll be visiting a body shop before it damages the fender or the skin. Oh, drivers door (not that it makes a differance)
my 2003 started with the passenger's side door, heavy tailwind and did not hang onto the door enough when exiting vehicle. . actually used a 2x4 and jammed the outer skin against it, pushed the skin back to its original position, made a few tachs with the mig welder and it worked fine. not enough heat to burn through the paint on the outer skin!
drivers door went about a year later, same cause...... same repair. nobody sees it and the doors have been good since.
Ford should have welded them at least a few time each, but I guess that would have messed up the adhesive?
A buddy of mine's '12 E150 door separated and it did damage to the fender. They fixed it under warranty. It took them 6 weeks to fix it and gave him a brand new GMC van as a loaner. He has always owned Ford vans and he said he has had more problems with his '12 then all other vans combined.
