Does anyone know the exact dimensions under the back seat of a 2006 f150?
I am looking at building a sub box enclosure and was wondering if a Kicker L5 would fit under the seat?
The bigger issue with using the Kicker solobarics is the thickness of their surround. Most of the under the seat boxes, like ours has about 1 1/4" of clearance under the box. SuperCrewSound - Ford F-150 SuperCrew Cab 04-08 Single Subwoofer Enclosure
The large surround and excursion of the solobarics will cause them to hit the floor and ruin the sound and the sub. We get about 5 7/8" max mounting depth, so the 6 3/16" MD for the L5 would not fit and that is before adding any clearance under the box. If you were to raise the seat you could make it work, but that can get pretty pricey as opposed to just choosing a different subwoofer.
Ok thanks for the information I will look into getting a different sub. I am a big fan of Kicker if anyone has suggestions of a different model or sub that fits and sounds good let me know. Also post some pics of subs in your truck, I need some ideas for an enclosure.
The Kickers like the CVR or CVT require a min of .8 cu ft, so you won't get the best performance out of them, that you would with a larger box. Our best seller is the Image Dynamics Id10 series; SuperCrewSound - Image Dynamics ID10D4 v.3 10 inch Subwoofer
I believe it to be a much better sub than the Kicker, but it is also cost more. If you consider the 15% discount being offered to members for the rest of the month that can make this sub and enclosure a decent price for a great system.
