ignition system (starter seliniod?)

i have a swamp buggy with a 351 from a 71 torino. i cant get it to turn over. how do i rewire the ignition system. i think the kid i got it from messed up the wiring on the seliniod. it might be easier to rewire it. it has a on/off switch and start button. how can i fix it? what dose the starter seliniod need to be hooked up to?

Jump #3 to #5 in the diagram below, and it should turn over. If you run these two terminals to a momentary switch, then it will turn over when the switch connects #3 and #5.
