lift kit
the kit was made by enegy suspension but they have no idea how it goes together. (they only make the parts) what i need is some place to get the instructions or some help in finding a new kit any help in location of the instructions or places i could find help would be greatly appriciated
Let me know what parts you have in the kit-I've not seen a kit by energy susp. Should have new coil springs, rear add-a-leaf or blocks, poss. new rear spring packs. Also depending on manufacture it may also have drop bracket for track bar, drop pitman arm, drop brackets for the radius arms and/or degreed "C" bushings. I've lifted my 79 3" in the front and have an extra leaf in the rear to level the truck(I don't haul with it) and installed all the front end parts myself-I did have a local spring shop set-up the rear packs- I needed new bushings anyway- You also will want to replace all the front end bushings with poly unless you don't use it on the street much and are lookin' for max suspension travel, then the rubber is the way to go, but the trade off is very poor on-road manners(wander, bumpsteer, ect.)-post with what you have and we'll take it from there. i have all the parts in place except the poloy bushings and the lifts for the body
actually looking for how to put the body mounts together have 3 different size red rubber pieces for the cab and front end but cannot figure what ones go where, also have the black blocks round ones
Glad to hear every thing else is in place! Now, for the bushings/body lift, the mounts go in size from the smallest in the front under the radiator crossmember support, the med. size go under the cab at you feet, the largest belong under the back of the cab behind the seat. The black spacers go between the frame and the body to provide the actual "lift". I hope you have new hardware to go with the set as this will make the job much easier. The stock hardware is miserable to deal with to say the very least. If yours is like mine was-get ready for a long day. The hardest part is gettin' the old out. I found that while the bolts(they should all come out the top) came out easy enough-I could not get the halves sepperated. First off, the rubber had bonded with all the washers, I had to cut the old bushings top to bottom and turn the nut on the bottom to spin them out of there. Had to do this for both top and bottom rubbers. Then I found that the thru pieces are flaired in the middle so that they will not come apart! I had to use a cut-off wheel to sepparate the pieces so I could get the old out of the frame! I just have the stock replacement kit(no lift) and once the old were out, the new went in with no problems except at the middle, the holes in the frame horn were to large to catch the bottom on one side and both on the other. I fabbed some washers out of an old sign blank-drilled a one and half inch hole then trimmed the "washer" to fit under the frame horn and made 3 others the same way. All I found in there was rust dust. I used a 2x4 with a hi-lift jack to raise the cab. With the lift your using, you might want to place a 2x4 as a spacer on the first side then work the other-I got away with one side at a time, but only because the old were shot and I only needed enought space to slide the new ones in. Also be careful with all the things that don't go up with the body(fan, steering shaft, brake lines ect.) you may have to trim, relocate and/or re-route brake lines, linkages ect., ect.. The red ones will go under the frame-same order from small in front to largest in the back, there should be washers that go under these-mine have the washer/nut combo(stock)that I picked up at the local ford dealer. They were about $5 apiece. There also should be a large washer that goes between the body and the top of the black spacers. If there are extra washers in any of the mounts, and the body sits level, you need to keep track of where and how many-these are shims to keep the cab leveled and should be reused or the cab may sit lower on the front or just one corner-this is important for the steering shaft alignment. Mine had a stack(4 on one side, 6 on the other) on each of the front radiator supports, no where else though. On second thought, the black spacers may be large and solid enough that washers may not be required on the top. If you have them, I would recommend using them. This is a must if there is poly that sits between the black lift block and the body. The only other thing I will suggest is that if you see another truck(any model)with this type of body lift-check it out, see how they did it. Hope this at least gets you started, Let me know if this seems to make sense, feel free to ask/advise on what you run into. Good Luck, Chuck P.

Oh, Pro, you know my little Vicoden trouble last week? Turned out I grabbed the wrong bottle. They were 150% stronger than the stuff I'd been using so I was equal to taking 6.
Now to make this all relevant to the forum be sure to wear proper back support when moving transfer cases or transmissions. OR get a friend to help or pay the neighbor kid or something.
Yup, good tech advice. Take care of that back. Heres another one. Don't pull a head or intake while standing on your bumper while its raining out. It will end with a trip to the er
