man, talk about diggin out an old thread! from what i understand, it is the same frame, but the suspension is really tweaked. i don't necessarily believe everything i hear from a dealership mechanic

The first gen lightning has the same basic frame layout as a F150 SWB, but, the rails are the same thickness as a F250HD/F350's for stiffness.
A D44 TTB will bolt right in. I've heard of a bunch of 'em being converted to 4x4...
Just a bit of useless trivia: The prototype Lightnings were all pre-runners, a couple were even race trucks... And, there was a prototype Lightning Bronco...
