trans. ID and compatability
can anyone identify this trans code. i believe its
T 18-IE
WO DIV.
it is a 4 speed, 1 st is granny and rev. is right and up.
there is no reason to believe that it originaly came in the truck.
then is this trans strong enough for the 460. the local auto shop instructor did not see any problem except that the bell housing will have to be replaced.

The transmission ID tag is (was-prolly missing by now) bolted to the back side of the case, right side upper.
The (original) TRANS code is on the Warranty Plate, located on the left door face below the latch.
Your profile says you have a 1964 F100. 1964's didn't use Warner T18's, they used Warner T98's.
The case used with a T18 is not the same as a T98, so if you have a 1964 F100 w/a T-18, the trans was swapped at some time.
1965 was the first year for T-18's in F Series trucks.
1983 was the first year a 460 was available with a manual transmission. Transmissions used: Warner T-18 & T-19C
