Well i installed my bd wastegate sunday and it was a real pain. but i got it in and it seems to work it spools alot quicker it feels like. i do have a question after install i started up and had a buddy hold at 2k rpm and at 2500 rpm and reving it a few times. while doing this i was watching the actuator rod and it dident move a bit... is this normal while the truck is stationary for it not to move? i could here the turbo whistel but no movement from the rod...
That's because you can't build boost just free revving the engine like that. The wastegate actuator is mechanical, not electrical. It works off of boost pressure. No boost = no actuator movement.
it just feels like i dont make a hole lot. i push like 3 to 5 lbs startin off. 1.3 to 2 crusing at like 50mph and sticking it wot like 12 to 15. why do like the 6.0 and the 6.4s get like 5 to 10 maby 15 taking off and like 25 to 30 wot??? im just curious. it just feels like more would help. i know that i will get worse mpg with more boost but it just feels real sluggish. i know dp is the way but i got an edge juicew/attitude and even with that it still feels like i could use more boost
dang well i got a prob then. i havent checked it in a while. i sent my chip back i got wet and fried so my screen isnt working but i dont think ive ever seen over 19 maby with the edge on 75hp setting. i have a ww too stock turbo other than the ww and the wastegate. why so low. my ic boots arnt leaking.. i dont see any oil comming from arround them. like i said its kinda wierd. i got the little extender tube from diesel peformance parts that connects from the wastegate to the red line. but its really strange.
Boost or exhaust leak, comming from somewhere. Start inspecting all 6 boots, and start looking for soot around the up-pipe collector. Couple of summers back I had a boost leak that I couldn't find until I pulled all the I/C boots off. Found 2 of them that had cracked.
curt the up-pipe collector are basicaly the pipes that run from the block to the turbo right kinda like headers on a truck... that may be it cuz i just started to notice like a ticking or something that sounds like an exhaust leak

Yeah, an exhaust leak preturbo will kill boost potential. Try checking for soot around the up pipe area. Also, pull the red wastegate line from the actuator and plug the boot onto an IC clamp bolt and see what kind of boost you can make. That eliminates the WG and tells you what you can do without that problem. You may not get to 20 without a good load/hill on stock or crappy tunes as there just may not be the fuel for it. Good luck. Let us know.
Those 30PSI guys weren't making 30 before they got their DP Tuner chips. And I will say at 30, they are making poor quality boost on a stock turbo. The 6.0, 6.4 have different injectors and turbos to operate like that, not to mention a bunch of other upgrades in air and fuel flow.
