Please tell me this is normal...

Monkeying around under my truck tonight and I notice this:





I know the pics aren't the best, but what you see is a non-continuous spot in the frame rail, right above the sway bar link mount. If it's not supposed to be this way I'm NOT going to be a happy camper.

Is that a Rivet thats down in that round hole, like it got pulled in??

it doesn't look like that anywhere on mine. are those welds?

I know the front section of the frame is welded and bolted together incase it needs to be replaced that though looks rough but you can see the weld in the top it looks like

The rivets are all where they are supposed to be, I was just concerned when I noticed that it appeared that the frame had been cut and spliced back together with rivets and welds, but apparently it's the norm so I'm good.

It is perfectly normal... Mine looks identical and all the other trucks I have seen have that same spot.

Yep, its a boxed butt joint. there is a tubular piece inside that the two ends are riveted to.

Without the extra length to the front end, we would have cabover trucks...
