Yes , Looking for some wise back yard mechanic,or maybe someone who just knows.
Currently have 1982 F-150 4x4 with a 3 speed/ overdrive.Transfercase is a 208F.
Now to the point->,
Would like to know what type/kind of 4-speed transmission with a side mounted shifter could be used to bolt up to the existing transfercase.
Want to put in a Hurst Shifter, to eliminate a lot of floor space from the existing top mounted shift.
making the shift pattern closer and easier to reach . (closer to driver).
Any and all info is welcome.
Thanks, ...Tom
I am not an expert, but I can offer two pieces of advice. According to Advance Adapters catalog, the t-18 is one of the toughest trannies for serious offroad usage. Secondly, if your refer to this web forum, you can get further advice:

I think he's looking for something more like a top-loader 4-speed, or the 3-speeds found on the early broncos. I had a 3-speed in my Bronco with a 351W, 4.10's, and 35's, and it worked like a champ, although I'm not sure about it bolting up to a 208. It came factory with a Dana 20 TC.
it doesn't mean anything! a lot of ppl think its something to brag about but the higher the humber the more time you waste online! i like to play on here during skool when i should be doing my labs or taking notes, lol.
