I have a 99 F150 4.2V6 that cranks but won't start
most of the time. The gauges and lites on the left
side of the dash are also off when it doesn't start.
The problem started when the after the dealer installed
factory cruise. The truck broke down on Jan 1 and the
dealer still has it and I'm still walking. Please help.
if the dealer still has it since Jan. you have 2
options in my opinion, (1) take a couple of days
off work, if that is possible, and find out their
busiest time for the service dept. Then, begin speaking to the customers that are dropping their
cars off to be serviced about what has been going
on with your truck. do it within earshot of the
employees and service advisors etc.. 9.9 times out
of 10 this will work very effectively. They will call the service manager and they will do almost
anything to make you happy. Think about it, each
vehicle that comes in for service averages between
2 to 6 hundred dollars, multiply that by the amount
of cars that arrive each day (service depts make
big bucks for the dealer)As for#(2)CALL A LAYWER!!
I'm sure that when they messed with your cruise, they did something to the transponder that receives the signal from your key. The 99 f-150s(I own one) have the key with the microchip in it that won't let your truck start unless it acknowledges that it's the right key. Good safety precaution, but hard to get around. That would be my guess.
