I am reworking a dana 60 to put under my 84 ford ifs(junk) and have talked to many people and getting different opinions. One go with greaseables and another stay with spicer non-greaseables.

I think this is one of those personal preference things, with that said, I prefer the greasable type joints, only because I get to inspect them every time the truck gets greased and I've always felt that it's better to know what comes out of them when I do service them. I do use mine off-road whenever I can. Chuck P.

It depends somewhat on what your wheelin and maintenance habbits are.If you do a lot of wet wheelin you have to remember the same fitting that lets in grease will also let in some water and crud, however if you have good maintenance habbits you can eject most of that crud with new grease immediately after wet condition wheelin. I install greasables in all of the labor intensive and hard to clean spots like the front axle steering knuckles, because you almost have to use high pressure water to clean them,(which is very bad for sealed bearings). Then clean and grease them after every wet or muddy outing,(I also use synthetic grease which is supposed to more effectively displace water around the metal components). The rear and front drive shaft U joints are easy to remove and replace,so I use non greasable, and check and replace them when neccessary. I use Spicer whenever available.
