I never considered that. I just bought new greasable u-joints for my front axles and I'm looking at new u-joints front to back on the driveline. I was going to find greasable ones but now I might just reconsider. I've grown up with "greasable is better" for decades so those words to live by are going to die really, really hard...
How can I determine the size of the U-joint, without crawling under the truck?

Yes by the vin. The dealer will have the application via your vin. Get the FoMoCo PN and Spicer will cross ref it.
Solid Ujoints are stronger. If thats not a concern then go grease-able. Use spicer grease.
