Its time for front brakes. Anyone got Instructions on how to remove the front rotors, so I can have them turned. I have Superwinch hubs so any info on removal of them could come in handy also. Exploded diagrams are nice.
I'd just get a chilton manual, they give a pretty good breakdown of how to do it. You will need to either rent or buy the special socket to get the spindle nuts off, if you buy it they are like $25 bucks at the auto parts store.
After you remove the hubs and the rotor/hub assembly is off the truck, smack all the wheel studs out of it. The rotor should come off the hub a little easier with the them removed...You can re-install them after they've been turned.
Thanks for the Input guys. I do have a Haynes manual, it is not very helpful, it just covers the 2wd. I figure this is gonna be a PITA. I have two shops in town that can turn rotors on the vehicle. I may give them a call. Only problem with that is, I think one may be beyond turning, and have to be replaced. I dont wanna pay a shop to attempt to turn them then have to tear it appart and replace one anyway.
it's really not that hard. once the hubs are apart and the rotors off, tap out the studs and spray your favorite lube in the seal from the rotor to the hub. it should tap off with some persuasion. just put 2 new rotors on my 97. total time about and hour and a half. and i am not at all fast when i work. (drink too much and drop greasy hub parts always into a nicely swept pile of dirt in the garage)
