Could someone explain to me what the exhaust bp sensor does?! Ive been searching and seen that it affects your fuel mileage...but how? What would happen if you just left it unplugged?
Secondly, I found this 99-03 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke Exhaust Backpressure Valve Terminator Is that used if you eliminate the ebv near the pesedtal? I believe that the ebv is near the turbo pedestal....correct? Ive also read that some people hook switches up to the valve to keep it open.
So basically if you get rid of your ebv would you need your ebps or are they even related? I live in VA and some nights get cold but rarely THAT cold and I was wondering about doing the switch thing to keep it open or even just unplugging the solenoid for the valve. Would that hurt anything?
I have stock turbo and housing...never cleaned my EBPS tube (need to) and have no idea where the solenoid plug is.
Im sorry for all the questions in one thread but my brain just went off with all these questions and I hate forgetting them so I figured Id get on here and just at least ask them and see what you guys could tell me!
Nevermind! A cup of coffee later and a little more diggin and I found a few threads that explain it enough that I get the just of how they work! Can I delete this thread or do the powers that be only have that power?!
It was way more than one thread that answered all my concerns. I just searched for ebpv and ebv and read everything I found. Eventually the questions I had were answered in one way or another. Try "Gutting ebpv" or "gutting ebv" and you should see everything I saw. It took me a while to find out it was called "gutting" but I eventually found out answers to my questions!
if your gutting the EBPV you dont want to delete the EBPS..the EBPS is used for fueling in custom tuning.. you want a EBPV delete..the plug for that is in the front side of the pedistal under the turbo...half way down the page bottom center row is the Exhuast Back Pressure Valve Terminator ..that is what you want...
