Hmm, I would imagine there is some small loss in wires and connections as well, but still not enough to make up the difference for what I need.
I trying to test a battery and need to be able to dump 1000 amps at 12V. I thought turning over the beast would be enough, but I guess not. 500 is still better than 60 though, thats as far as I've gone so far with testing.
Part of the reason you need more, you don't want to drain the battery completly.
What if you start the engine then stall it before the battery has a chance to recharge.
If it don't start the first attempt, you probably have two or three more attempts in reserve.
Batteries are never very efficient at cold temps.
Even with 1000 CCA batteries, I figure I only have about 4 chances at best to get mine fired at sub zero temps before I break out the battery charger or jumper cables.
