nah...

Well the minion's kinda tamed down more towards the end... There for awhile, newbs in general didnt come down here... Unless they had some GOOD tech...

The minions were knowledgable, as you had to pass a test to be a minon... I still have the test if anybody would wanna see it...

To set the record straight, the Minions would still be around if they hadn't turned into a gang type thing throughout FTE. Example, it didn't matter what forum someone asked a lift question in, if one minion found it, the rest would follow and it would turn into an all out bashing against that user by the minion group. This is not, has never been and never will be allowed on FTE. Its a shame because we lost a lot of good and knowledgeable users here, both in the offroad forum and in other forums where these incidences occured.

You want to do a one-on-one with another user or logically and politely tell another user why something is the wrong way to do something, I'll let things be. You want to chase others away by calling them idiots or morons because they're not doing things the right way or your way, I will get involved.

I don't have a problem with little groups within the FTE family. I do have a problem with that little group acting as a gang.

BTW, have any of you ever looked up the meaning of "Minion", a/k/a follower, slave, etc. I never understood why anyone would like to be known as someone else's slave????

Yea i thought that was kinda funny my self. Never considered my self a follower per say, just like the idea of grouping knowledge together...

Some of the things the minion's did were not acceptable, i understand that....

Ive done some asking and some searching and the minions as a group were acceptable, how they acted was not...

So it came down to good bye minions....

I dont agree with the way things were handled but, its out of my hands. Im over it, and its part of the past...

Oh, I don't agree with the way things were handled either. Thats why I asked for this forum. I hope to nip anything like that from happening again before it does. This has always been a fun forum and one of my favorites on FTE. I'd like to see fun times come back and see newbie's not being afraid to ask a dumb question.

I don't ask many questions here because I don't have to. I have a husband. Others may just be starting out and don't know the errors of their ways and aren't going to bother asking if they know they're gonna get slammed from the start.

I'm all for users using the Search function and will point many in that direction, but lets face it, there's a lot of lazy people out there so its easier to ask the same ole question over & over.

I'm piping up just to give ya all a bit of a heads up on how I plan on moderating this forum. I'm by no means strict and like to have fun, lots of fun. There are limits though and name calling & excessive profanity are two of my biggest concerns.

Those of you that don't know me will find that I'm more than fair.

I dont hesitate in reporting people that are causing problems...

I hope things will be handled differently.

I dont mind dumb questions, not everybody knows, like you said.

People have to start somewhere...
Thats one reason i came back, i dont want a bunch of newbs running around giving each other bad info... That and i like fte...

I was aggravated at how things were handled and i expressed my opinions, took my necessary vacations because of it, and now im done and over with it... Ive moved on.

Look forward to having you around Carlene,

I was here when the minions were. I did get alot of good advice but I do agree they could get a little harsh at times but when you ask a question and then argue with the advice given what do you expect?

well it kind of started out when some of them (minions) got in a heated debate in another forum. after that it was kind of poking fun at the other group that kris had his minions and from there it pretty much stuck. it's not like a group of us got together and decided to call each other minions!

i just wish we could get more tech in here. seems like people only ever install lift kits and need recommendations on shocks... which is cool; been there done that! BUT it would be nice to see a build thread (RIP Pro, Ivan, STG, Quad, etc etc!). i am hoping as soon as i finish getting the motor together i will have some tech on how i am rebuilding the front of my bronco!

Carlene i havent been in really any threads and discussed anything with you. I dont have a problem with you. But when you say this i can forsee what is going to happen. The ignorant people are going to get catered to just like they always do. Some one comes in here and asks a question, get an answer from a knowledgeable person. Then the OP tells the person answering that they dont know what they are talking about and the arguement insues. The person who answers get his butt chewed and the OP is free to go. It seems to happen everytime. You are not gonna be able to keep knowledgeable people here if the knowledge they have is not appreciated. In the real world if you do something stupid or say something stupid then you face the consequences. Why should this place be any different?

What part don't you get exactally?

If you answer someone's question and they tell you you don't know what you're talking about others are more than welcome to step in and give reason as to why you do know or you can go further into it yourself. If you or anyone else, including the OP, starts with crap like "Look you idiot" or the like, yep, you or whomever will face the consequences.

Pretty simple I think. Lay off personal attacks.

The "minions" LOL...
I knew they were doomed from the start
They tried to get me to join, but I stayed away for a reason and Im glad I did!
They did have a ton of knowledge though! Wish it had turned out better...

But at the same time, I keep coming back to this forum because its a little more technical and I feel more "at home" then in the superduty section.
I get tired of the "what size tire can I fit with a 6'' lift" type questions.

While I think its ok for noobs to come in and ask questions, they should also have a little respect for the experience in this forum, and not get their feelings hurt when they get told they are doing something the wrong/unsafe way.

And personal attacks are never acceptable!

I couldn't agree more.

BTW, I took all these posts out of the "Trust Fund" thread. That thread needs to run on its own.

This one is a great place for ya all to ask me whatever you want to know about how I moderate, tell me if I'm doing something wrong, vent about past moderation issues, etc.

I'll try to answer what I can as long as you guys realize that I am NEVER wrong, ask my hubby.

I feel like I was a part of history.

They only reason there was ever a problem is because we all happened to have the word minion in our signature. We would've said the same things either way, the minion thing started out as a joke anyway.
