I have a 96 Explorer with a 4.0 Mfg 1/96 I bought it from a fella who Hydro locked the Motor driving through a puddle. So we picked up a Wrecking yard motor from a rolled over 96 Explorer Mfg 6/96 we spent today throwing it in. The differences were Auto Trans in the donor 5 speed in mine I used the wiring Harness out of our 96 Labeled everything and we were very careful about the switch. Everything hooked back up there are no stray wires or connecters. We pulled the front line off of the fuel rail in the front and my son turned the key on and fuel shot up bout 6 inches oops! Where do you check the fuel pressure and with what type of gauge. We checked our spark and it is fine. Is there anything else I can check. Will the computer recognize the new motor or does it need to be reset. Any help would be great.
If he hydolocked the motor I would assume the fuel tank got its share of water. Did you drop the tank flush everything and replace the filter? This might just be a case of really crap gas.
Well we pulled the gas Tank and found some rather brown gas full tank of course. M/T the tank and cleaned it out now we have fresh gas we cycled the pump several times to clear the lines and we still have no fire in the hole.
In process we hooked up to the air fitting on the injector rail and blew back to the tank. We are going to change injecters now I'll let you know Thanks
