I just came home with a 2008 Ranger XLT short bed 2.3, auto.
Its pretty much a basic truck (I've added an Undercover lid and a Class III hitch).
It'll primarily be used to run around town after groceries and nuts and bolts from Home Depot.
Its other job will be to pull my bike in its little trailer (BMW F800 and a small enclosed utility trailer, 5X8, 700 lbs).
I traded a 2005 Chevy Silverado V6, 5spd for the Ranger. It had way too many issues with steering, catalytic converters, and transmission bearings. It had a very short life with me (31K miles) and averaged between 13 and 16 mpg around town. I had to make a change.
The little Ranger got 22.2 mpg from the first tank, and its running on the second tank right now (423 miles).
I'm a member of a couple of the bike forums and found them to be very useful.
I hope to get as much out of this forum as I have from them.
My only realy question at this point is whether the little truck is up tp pulling the trailer. Its about 900 lbs fully loaded.
Anyone with experience pulling trailers out there???
Welcome, glad you found this site. You'll find this site very useful, no doubt. Unless the tires are flat, you should pull your trailer effortlessly, those Duratec 2.3l's are pretty potent. Keep the tranmission serviced and it won't complain either, they're fairly durable. What year is your BMW?
