Well it seems that the amount of aluminum in my oil is slowly increasing. I'm curious to know what internal parts in the engine are aluminum? Does anyone have any insight of what could be happening? The truck seems to run the same as it always did when I bought it. I bought it used and have doen the oil analysis from the first oil change. The truck dosen't get worked hard as you can see by the miles. I bought the truck at the end 2005.
How would play in the turbo wheel get aluminum in the oil? What would be the fix? Rebuild the turbo? Would the problem be obvious once the turbo is removed and inspected?
aluminum was the first thing to rise when my turbo went out..the housing is aluminum.. if your wheel has up and down play you can rebuild it..but in out play its junk..if the wheel is hitting the housing it shaves off some aluminum from the housing ..the air flows though the heads shavings and all.. thats how the aluminum ends up in the oil...
