axle code "19" so guess thats 3:55 gears running 31 inch tires and I do not want to go to taller ones... and swapping 2 sets of gears out is a PIA so hence why I figured the cam/ spacer idea Also have an AOD trans

A cam upgrade will help but the spacer won't make a noticable difference. Here's some insight from somebody that has had both a 5.0 and 5.8 in the same truck. A 5.8 is just capable of producing acceleration in OD in a truck with 3.55 gears and 31" tires, and it makes about 100 ft/lbs more TQ than a 5.0 below 2000rpm. There's nothing you can do to the 5.0 to make that much low rpm TQ so you have to regear to put the motor in a range where it makes enough TQ.
I run a 26.1" tall tire 265/50R15 on my Mustang . 295/50R15's are 26.7". The 3.55's work good with my T-5, but most AOD Mustang guys run at least 3.73 if not 4.10. This would also be my choice in a heavy truck, 4.10's.
well, I am pretty happy with the overall performance of what I have.. mileage is in the 17 to 19 mpg. pull power is decent nuff for what I tow, and anything smaller than 31 inch looks stupid on the truck anyways..lol.
Just figured i'd see if it was possible to move the tq numbers around a lil bit is all. I think more than anything prob the the shorties, dual exhaust and an ignition upgrade will help things along. thanks.

Agreed on the tire size.. it's what looks about correct for a vehicle this big.

You can make significant improvements in power and you'll probably be quite satisfied. You'll want longtube headers though shorties won't do anything for you at low rpms, and a cam upgrade is the key, it will let more air in and that will make more TQ. The 5.0 in my truck now does perform a lot better than stock.. it's just noticably weaker than the 5.8 I took out, if you have never had that you won't miss it.
