I just noticed that no one has answered your question about the leak, above the pan on the tranny (Including me ) Thats really where I was going when I mentioned the work on the header pipe and converter. The tranny cooler line fittings are on the passenger side above the pan (~2"). Best I recall is, one is closer to the bell and one closer to the tailshaft. Unless you shook those unions up, I kinda doubt they would just start leaking with an oil change-----but possible. With the pre-heater and converter so close to the tranny, you almost have to loosen them at the manifold to get enough clearance to even see the fittings.
Maybe (if you have a manual shift 4X4 xfer case) there will be a removable inspection plate on top of the tunnel so you can get to it from the top.
