Does anyone know what the biggest size tire is that I can put on my 1983 F150 4x4 with a 6" suspension lift and a 3" body with out having to cut the fenders. Also does anyone know what the biggest size tire is that I can put on with a 8" suspension lift and 3" body lift without having to cut the fenders. I would appreciate the help.
The best place to check for this info is with the lift manufactures, they will have charts that will give a max. tire size for that height lift and some also when combined with a body lift. Might also check some of the sites for 4x4 rags, most list lifts/years/fitment at some time or another, hopefully would have this in the archives. Chuck P.
I would check out www.natltire.com They have a "What hits, what fits" section of their website. They play it on the safe side, use their feedback section to ask about specific tire, rim, lift combinations. I am planning on the same setup(6" 3"), some day, and emailed them about what I could fit. They said 38.5x16 would fit with no fender trimming. I would like to go to 40x17, and have seen an early 80's Ford truck in one of my mags with the same amount of suspension and body lift with 39.5x18 Swampers, no fender trimming. It depends on axle articulation, and what you plan on doing with it. If it is used mainly on the street, 40x17 may fit with little rubbing. For actual offroading 38.5's are a better bet. They said if you go to the 8" Skyjacker you will need to get custom driveshafts, as the pinion angles will be too great. Good luck and tell us how everything comes out.
did we make you sad with our not sky high trucks pro?
Well yea, that sucks for you guys, but mostly I'm still bummed about Ho getting axed. Its funny, the schmucks never get permanently banned but several really knowledgable guys who contributed great tech to this forum have
Although, it IS funny that both fishy and Ivan have been banned before but I never have. Guess its because I've never been a troublemaker
