I have the same rims. Those lug nuts look smaller than the ones on my truck. I think mine take a 7/8 socket.
It looks like the taper in the rim is is not fully covered by the lugnut in your picts but it's hard to tell.
I don't know about them pulling through the rims but to be safe you might want to get larger lugnuts.
well I went to the ford stealership and they don't even know what lugnuts are supposed to be on my truck. We tried about 6 different kinds of them, and they were either to big in diameter or the wrong thread pitch. So now I don't know whats goin on. We did conclude that it is supposed to be a washer style though cause if you look on the wheels you can see where a washer used to seat on the rim. Maybe I'm wrong, anyone with an opinion please let me know!
the lug nut socket size is 7/8" thats on there right now
Those are the correct lugnuts. Maybe someone had the flat style on there at one time but they should tapered. The flat/washer style lugnuts are used on the newer style aluminum rims.
BTW the round marks around the outside of the nut on the wheel is from a deep well impact socket rubbing the wheel when the nuts are removed or installed. Print this thread out and bring it into the inspector!
I'm not sure what to do, theres no proof that they are OEM cause the ford dealer couldn't find anything that showed it, and they won't put the inspection sticker on it without new lug nuts or proof that they are the correct ones. I'd take it somewhere else but then I'm out $25 that I already paid this guy for the inspection.
never thought of that...the impact socket...makes sense! I dont know if printing this out would get me to far with the inspectors though
Yeah I guess it probably won't get you far! once you get the sticker I will give him a call and tell him he's and idiot myself!
He has probably never even seen the lug nuts due to most people still have those hub caps on them. Start talking to him about lug centric and hub centric wheels and how the SD's with the flanged nuts are hub centric wheel. But the OBS trucks are lug centric and have tapered seat lugs nuts. He will quickly give you a pass cause he will realize you know more about vehicles than he does.
....I am feeling kinda mean today and I don't know why!....The guy is an idiot!
thoose are the right ones for your truck that has lug concentric wheels. they are the stockers
the ones that they are talking about with the washers are for HUB concentric wheels like whats on the superduties.
that inspector is a moron.
my truck has the same wheels and the lugs look identical from what the pics show. and there stock ford lug nuts too.
one of the reasons you see some that flare out a bit more are for trucks that have exposed lugs so your sockets dont touch the wheel. the stockers dont have thoose stops on them
Cuda I would say that my lug nuts do look identical to yours in the picture. That makes me feel much better.
Tj I'm certainly going to go in the shop on monday and mention the hub centric lug centric differences and then see where it goes from there. If I have to I'll get it inspeceted somewhere else and get ahold of the better business bureau
Oh, and thank you all for your responses and helping me get to the bottom of this. I had never heard of failing an inspection because of lug nuts. Glad to see ya'll agree!
