Rear end cover

Hey fellas, I am back in the states now, and wouldn't you know I already have a truck. It not a powerstroke, but it is ford. My dad got me into a half ton for now. I was wondering if anyone could still get a hold of those cheap cooling finned rear diff covers that were being sold for $25 a year or so ago. I had one on my truck then but now I would like to put one my new truck. Anyone know? I think it might have been the dealership selling them at that price.

Its good to be back.

Gobstopper is right that it won't fit your truck. And welcome back to the states!! Glad to hear you got a truck again even if its not a PSD. Trucks are cheap these days so maybe you will be back in "the know" soon!

Actually I think it will fit, but I have to make sure. I have the 1998 F-250LD, and I have been told that this set-up came with the 10.25. Shouldn't it say on the driver side door? If you ask me the axle looks the same as my PSD, but my dad says to take the number of the axle tag to make sure. Thanks for the part number Chris, and its always good to hear from ya, Tim.

Welcome back Casey.

If you have an 8.8 rear end there will be 10 bolts
holding the cover in place...the 10.25 & 10.5 have 12 bolts.

According to THIS SITE 9.75 is used on:
Expedition: 1997 - 2003
F150: 1997 - 2006
Mark LT: 2006 - 2006
Navigator: 1998 - 2006

It could be a D60:
It has 10 bolts + the only available axle with the oil fill/check hole in the cover

Well it has 12 bolts like my PSD had so I guess that mean it the 10.25 axle.

What are the main +s compared to the orig. diff covers? more efficient cooling due to the fins? Do they hold more fluid?

maverick, i believe its the same cap. only drawback is theres no drain. but it looks cool and aluminum dissipates the heat better than stocker. best of all....UNDER $50

Maverick, it just looks cool!
IIRC it holds a bit more fluid and the fins gotta help it stay cooler.
Guess that's why they are used on Sooperdooties
Cudos to Tim for the picture I stole from him....again

the aluminum itslef will disapate heat faster and the fins help as well. plus the appearance and price is a good selling factor. i am 99% sure they hold the same amount of fluid.
