351 to IL6 swap
im getting a swamp buggy this weekend it is suposed to be a f 150 4x4 frame dont know the year. it has a 351 from a torino and an auto tranny. i already have a IL 6 with a manual tranny. what id like to do is put in the strait 6 and keep the auto in it. will i have to change the cam shaft to use it with an auto tranny since it is with a manual now? or the fly wheel? my first ford and not to familular with um.

What's wrong with the 351?
Which tranny is it? I know the 300, 302 and 351, 460 and other motors I'm not thinking of use the E40D. I think you may have to change the fly wheel though. Other men here will know for sure what you need to know.
Just curious, why are you swapping from a 351 to a 300? If you're going to use it as a swamp buggy, you're not going to see much better fuel economy if that's what you're thinking.

Im not sure how long the 351 will run, the kid im trading was running with no air filter. I just want to get the IL6 ready in case. I know the IL6 runs perfect it is mated with a 3 or 4 speed right now and the t-case is (heavy steal). the buggy is an auto with what looks like a new process t-case (aluminum).
