I have a 2004 F150 FX4 with a 5.4L. When accelerating my truck has a hesitation much like a carberator car that is bogging. I installed the edge programmer and reflashed the PCM with no improvement. Next I did a code diagnosis and retrieved P2006 IMRC stuck closed on Bank 1. The problem with that is the 5.4L does not have a IMRC it is equipted with a CMCV. Has anyone else experienced the same problem, if so what was the fix?
check that the CMCV linkages on the back of the intake are not obstructed. there is alot of crap back there and maybe something is partially blocking 'em.
Isn't some of the hesitation typical of the 5.4 trucks. Mine has done it since day one and 3 different dealers offered nothing more then. Sorry, that's normal.
Last post is true...........it's common on the 5.4. I have the 06' and after a dealer inspection and talking to other owners it's a given. Hesitation is part of the deal. A quirk more or less.
I have the 07 5.4L and experience the same hesitation since day 1. Installed the Edge with Level 2 tuning few months ago and the hesitation seems to be much improved. I am happy with the current engine response.
My truck just started this about a month ago. The hesitation is not at initial acceleration it is when the engine reaches about 2500 RPM and then it feels like you just tuned into a 75 MPH headwind. After the RPMs get up above 3500 it is OK. It is more noticable when shifting at medium acceleration. I think the first reply is going in the right direction. Thanks
The latest, I took the throttle body (TB) off and sprayed Seafoam down the manifold, let it set, put the TB back on, fired it up and shot Seafoam down the TB. I cleared the P2006 code, drove it and so far no new code. Hope it holds.

This and similar problems is exactly why I run solvent oil/stabilizer in every vehicle or other equipment all the time. My current favorite mix is 4 oz Marvel Mystery Oil plus 1 oz Sta-Bil (marine concentrate for ethanol) to every 10 gallons of fuel.
I have this same problem on my 06. Its almost like it tries to downshift for half a second, then pops right back into the gear it was in!?!? Mine ALWAYS does it at 1900-2100 rpm under Medium+ acceleration. Also seems to do it more if i'm already traveling up a hill and decide i want to give it more throttle.
I've been told this is normal for this engine. That really disappoints me.. now i have to buy a 500 aftermarket product just for the *chance* that my truck might run normally. I bought this thing new off the lot and it has done it since day one... Talk about annoying..
Dealer says he feels it but gets no error codes or information that tells him the tranny is working outside of fords mandated parameters so... Bleh.
