Well I just finished installing a 6in. Pro-comp suspension lift. I went to measure the height all around, to make sure it's sitting level, and all the sides are different by a little. Well this is a 1980 F-150 and I noticed that my stock rubber body bushings are shot. I think this is my problem, so instead of just replacing the bushings with stock ones, I might as well just install a body lift.
Ok here's the question. If I get a 3in. lift, with bumper relocation kit, is there anything else that has to be modified for this to work properly. My truck has a 4-speed floor shift, as well as floor shift for the transfer case. I guess those two items are my main concern.
I would forget the body lift. There is too much to mess with like clutch and shifter linkage, extending wire harnesses, fan shroud, brake lines, pretty much anything connected to both body and frame. Plus, I hat to see the frame below the body, and the gap in the rear fender wells. Just get new Poly bushings and put em in. You might regret getting a body lift.
Wow, I knew some things had to be adapted, but forget all that. I'm happy with the height of my truck now. Stock height poly bushing seem like the way to go.
