Howdy Everyone...So it seems according to a fellow that just completed a Hypermax Turbo install on his 86 F-250 4X4 XLT with a 6.9...very similar to my truck...recommends at least a 2" body lift so the up and down pipes will fit in much easier than bending the firewall.
I am confused! I was searching around for body lift kits, but it seems all I can find are suspension lift blocks! Huh!!! Since I will be installing a Hypermax myself, don't they make poly body bushings that will lift the body off the frame higher than the stock ones?
If so, where to get and how much work will it take to do something like that...Seems to me for $150.00 I should be able to find the right body bushings somewhere. It's just that I've never done that before.
Any help, advice, leads, etc...would be greatly appreciated. Meanwhile I'll keep searching...it may be that I am using the wrong search terms..
Body lifts can cause more problems than they solve. They can cause shifter interference to the floor, or the shifter linkage has to be lengthened if you have a automatic. The fan on the radiator doesn't line up to the shroud, so the shroud has to be cut out on the bottom, and that can cause cooling problems.
The body lift kits are universal usually, I am sure jcwhitney or maybe even summit sell them.

Yeah I got to thinking and looking and discovered that I would have to raise the bumper, possibly cut or lower the fan shroud, etc...etc...etc...
Just to much to install the turbo...I think I will nix that thought and just install the turbo like everyone else does...with lumber, sawsall, & a hammer on the firewall.
