Knocking Noise

Hey Guys. Just had a quick question. I recently purchased a 2005 F-150 FX4 with 18,000 miles on it. I noticed that once the engine warms up a bit, I seem to hear a knocking noise from the engine. I can only hear it when I"m stopped. Anyone have a clue what this could be?

How many tanks of gas have you run through it, what octane and what station?

Does it sound like engine knock (as related to ping or pre-ignition) or a mechanical knock? Probably not your gas, Phillips uses some pretty good QC. And is it actually a knock or more like a tick? Is it always the same cadence or does it change with RPM?

More like an engine knock. I guess it does sound more like a ticking noise then anything. It's always the same cadence.

If it is a slight knock I would guess the cam phasers.

Some ticking, for the most part, is normal. These are just ticky engines. Could be injectors or cam phaser issue as well. Many have spent alot of good money chasing the tick only to be left with the same old tick.
