OBDII Problems
I have a 2004 F350 4X4 SD with a 6.0. I am trying to get any trouble codes and to see if a chip has been added. I don't know if getting info about the chip is possible with a code reader or not. My problem is that I can't get anything with the OBDII reader. It just tells me there is an error after I press the link button. Is there a different type of code reader that I need to be using?

Welcome to FTE. As mentioned, you have to have the proper type of code reader. The cheap ones won't work.
Does your cigarette lighter work? The OBDII port and lighter are on the same fuse. If you have a blown fuse you won't get any communication to the reader.
