front axle i.d.
I have a 1983 ford F150 4x4 with a 351W. My question is can any body tell me what size my front axle is. I have the IFS. I need to know what size it is because I am going to put new gears and a locker in it. Any help would be appreciated.

you need to get the axle code from the tag on the inside of your driver's door frame. I have an 85 F150 4x4 which should be very similar, came with 3.50 gears front and rear. Is that what you're looking for? Or are you talking about axle shaft diameter?

If you need the axle ratio, there should be an aluminum tag on the front or rear diff covers. The number of splines is either 29 or 30. Open knuckle design. That should be all you need.
