Help with decoding a part number
I have a 1975 F100
I was under the hood today, and discovered, much to my dismay that a thing called a pollution filter (at least thats what the guy at the Ford garage called it) was broken. i am looking for a replacement, but can't decipher the code on it . It reads D5TEAB. A rubber hose runs from the exhaust manifold on the left side, through this thing, and another hose runs down to the right manifold.
a hose also comes up from the AIR pump into the bottom of this piece.
Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. It has a 302 V8

Secondly it's not really a part number, it's an Engineering number.
You are missing the middle section of the number.
First question, when you went to the garage, what did the person say? Did he just say Obsolete after a few minutes? He/she should at least have been able to get you a part number for it.
Secondly, Have you tried getting one of these at Napa or kragen or something? Sometimes these Polution filters are called emissions filters in the aftermarket sector.
Third Question, this sounds more like the Thermactor Air Diverter Valve. Or TAD Valve for short, by your discription. It hooks up to the air pump, and exaust manifold, as well as into the catylitic converter. Need a picture of device to help further.
The partial engineering number D5TE-AB decodes as...
D5= 1975
T= Truck
E= Engine
You are missing the center section.
AB= Design Suffex. Used when the original part has been changed, or is slightly different to the original. Usually starts with A: goes to B: etc... Not much help, I know, that's why a picture is needed.
