Hello,
I have a 2003 Expedition with the trailer tow package. Recently I have had difficulty with the lights on the trailer not functioning. I changed out the 7 pin connector cord, there was some wear on the cord, and I also changed out the relay fuse to the trailer lights. Both of these changes had no effect. I have absolutely no lights on the trailer, brake, turn signal, running etc. Does anybody have an idea of where the problem my lie? Tomorrow I will have friend hook his truck up to the connector to see if his truck works, this should indicate whether my problem is in the truck or the trailer. Any other advice you might have would be greatly appreciated.
well you can also test your trailer lights by taking a wire and connecting it to an power source and connect it into the trailer plug to see if the lights work on the trailer, if they work then the problem lies in the wiring on the truck
Follow the wires from the trailer connector until you come to two connectors under the left rear corner of the vehicle. The half of those plugs that come from the vehicle's wiring harness tend to have the wires corrode, burn, and break inside the insulation. Pull with moderate tension on those wires one at a time and look to see if the insulation is stretching. If it is, the copper inside is gone and they will need to be repaired.
Thanks for all the recommendations. I had another truck hook up to the trailer, and the lights are still having issues. It appears my problem lies with the trailer, vice the Expedition. Looks like I have some more troubleshooting to do. Thanks again.

Or there's a problem with your expedition AND the other truck. Never rule out ALL of the possibilities.
