has anyone out there ever tried using coil spring spacers to raise the front of there truck ? they are a lot cheaper than taller coil springs i just dont know if they work as good. thanks.
I mean you are spreading the spring and putting excessive strain on one part of the spring. possibly spreading it past where it was intended to be. thus weaking the total strenght of the coil!
Check some places that deal with jeeps, I know that they have spacers that go under the coil for a modest amount of lift, 1 or 2 inches at the most. These just raise the whole coil from the bottom with a spaced type perch. Don't know if anyone makes them for us guys though.
I tried some of the rubber spacers that fit between the coils and it was a lot of hassle for nothing. I don't think there are any spacers that go under or on top of the coil for our trucks, all the ones I have seen are for springs with round seats and the ones on mine aren't round, sort of "D" shaped. I'll eventually install some leveling coils I guess.

I have seen spacers that go under the spring in between the axle housing.I think they are only 1/4" thick and are mainly used for leveling purposes side to side. I guess you could use them to compensate for slightly sagged springs. There is no such thing as a cheap way to change the ride height as any change will require an expensive wheel alignment.I think your best bet would be to stay away from the spacers, new springs aren't that much.
Superlift sells the coil spring spacers that go beneath each coil. Each spacer is 1/4" thick and you can stack them to a maximum of 1" lift. The info is at http://www.superlift.com/ford4.htm
