As some others have posted, I'm not sure where exactly this thread belongs but I live in the SD forum so I'll just post it here:
Is there any particular reason Internet Explorer will not let me switch tabs while on the FTE page?
Everytime I try it crashes and says 'IE not responding'. I'm running several virus and spyware scanners, IE explorer 7.0 on a brand new computer with Vista 64-bit, 4 gigs or ram, and some 2.2GHz dual core processor so I don't think my machine is the weak link.
I know there are lots of opinions about microsoft and I should change, but is this a simple setting issue or a problem with the FTE page?
Mozilla Firefox does not have this problem for the record!
I doubt that this site is the problem. My compter is about the same as yours and there is no problem switching tabs with IE7. Just to make sure, I loaded up two FTE tabs and another unrelated site and switched between them. No problems found.
Try opening several tabs with other sites and switch between them. If everything work OK, add FTE and try again. If the problem persists try loading IE without any add-ins and try again. A disc cleanup where you delete all old IE cache information might also help.
It is, there are several scripts running that seem to hate my old laptop. I am running firefox and noscript. The site loads and runs much smoother with out the scripts hosted on ford-trucks.com and ford-trucks.net.
Well I really don't think it's the site, I did some research and found pretty much I got a hunk of crap for a computer...
HP has an ongoing problem with their NVIDIA graphics cards and the AMD processors... as it turns out my comp is one of their 'problem children' and needs to be sent in to get repaired. But if I do that, I will be out of a comp for a month and I don't know what I would do considering I use this machine for work and all my school stuff.
Oh well, we'll see how long this processor lasts running at 103 degrees celsius when it is supposed to be running around 65... I can't play combat arms anymore already, and can barely view the forum
I don't know but maybe out numbered here but I run Firefox on my MAC it's just not right to run Microsoft Internet Explorer on a MAC and I have no problems, so if you want a computer that works buy a MAC they never give me any problems and this laptop is 3 years old (Mac Book Pro 17")
Firefox on any computer is better than IE on anytime. Firefox with Adblock Plus, AVG 8.0, AVG Safe Search, WOT (Web of Trust), Comodo Firewall Pro and No Script. All of which are free. The only thing that slows me down is my not wanting to spend any more for faster access.
Oh I wanted to buy a mac but everything I needed out of the machine put the price tag over $3K whick was about $2500 over my price range I do a lot of drafting in Pro-E and floor plans in autocad, so a smaller comp just wont cut it. Not to mention how much I like music and adult videos while I'm doing all the other crap I do on here...
I ended up getting an HP becasue the price was right, and I was able to get a credit card to cover the difference for the cash I didnt have. Not going to lie though, I am very very very disappointed in Vista 64 bit. Slower and more unreliable than XP.
Next comp will be a mac, no doubt. My opinion of Microsoft is about as high as my opinion of Chevrolet, a certain presidential candidate, lawyers, and insurance companies.
I agree about Vista is a POS, my work computer runs XP and some of my coworkers have Vista and hate it, I just tell them you had your choice now deal with it. BTW at work I did not have a choice of MAC or PC was told PC only what a bummer so I deal with it, but come home to a computer that works.
See my work didn't really give me a choice, they just gave me a crappy computer and expected it to work. I got sick of dealing with IT and said 'F*** it, I'll just use my own'
Which turned out to be a great call becasue now I have awesome software.
But yeah, what kind of computer do you use? I have had terrible experiences with HP (recently), Dell (2004 thru 2008), and Gateway (????-2004).
At first I though I just expected too much out of a computer and I couldn't be pleased, now I realized that asking for:
1. Turn on
2. Stay on without a blue screen
3. Shut down
Is too much to ask from a windows machine and maybe computer suck for everyone. But I need to advise the little lady a good machine, and Mac is out of the question So opinions?
I only had a choice of Vista or XP no choice of computer so I have a Dell Latitude D630 running XP pro. that is my work computer had for a year and it's OK had some software issues with Dell utilities- compatability issues when using wireless HP printer
Ahhh I see, I had the Dell 600m and believe it or not I never once had a software issue, but hardware issues galore. The screen hinges wore out religously, I pretty much got a new motherboard quarterly, and towards the end of its service life the hard drive and both ram kernals took a digger at the same time, then the wireless card and ethernet card went bad. Oh well, if the tech people weren't in india I might had bought another one... oh well, such as life...
