Balancing turbos

Stupid question number two for the weekend....

When tearing down a TP 38 or any other turbo for that matter and when replacing the impeller and turbine housing and doing a basic rebuild How IMPORTANT is it to balance the new impeller to the shaft? The guy I bought the new wheel says you gotta do it. A couple other guys I asked that are more knowledagble than I say it is not that important.
Anybody please?

MANY have done it without balancing anything. If you can swing the down time to get it balanced it would be good IMO but not super duper important. Getting it balanced does ensure longer turbo life and that you didn't screw anything up though.

Mine as well do it IMO.
You cannot go wrong by doing it, and like he said. It will improve turbo life.

If you know you should have balanced it, and dont, chances are that you'd put it in so screwed up that it breaks cause you managed to have it really outa wack.

One of those deals you just cant ignore i guess.
