I've knocked off those clips too.
#1, for me is always suspect after I get the valve cover laid down over the head.
I always lift it back up to make sure, and sure enough, that clip was unhooked again!
Also did the quarter shim while I was in there to prevent that dreaded 1316 code from rearing it's ugly head.
Instead of buying the updated shims or harness from International or Ford, you can grind the end off of a quarter and it is the right width and thickness to prevent the connector under the valve cover from coming undone.
It costs about 50 cents to equip your truck like this
I gotta say thanks again to the guys of this forum. All of the UVCH threads saved my butt over the Christmas holidays. 800 miles from home my truck started running rough and missing and throwing the CEL. I went and had it scanned and the guy tells me IDM...$950 through Ford...$650 through NAPA if we get it overnighted. I say, "Let me check with my dear friend FTE and I'll call you back." I do some quick searching and read about the UVCH. I pulled popped the hood and went to work with my multi-meter. Sure enough the drivers side was unplugged. 25 cents later I was up and running...better yet, my father in-law thinks I'm a genious. This weekend I'll pony up the other 25 cents and do the passenger side and re-torque everything.
