Is there a vehicle that has rearend with an offset pumpkin. I need the pumpkin to be on the drivers side for proper driveshaft alignment. It doesnt matter what make or width the rearend is. I'm trying to build a 6 wheel drive vehicle.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think there were some old jeeps that had offset rear pumpkins. Might be tough to come across one, but I think they are about the only company that had an offset rear end at one point.
The reason I dont have one built is cus this redneck can't afford all that custom built stuff. If I can find the stuff to work in junkyards, it'll be better.
I believe I like the idea of using a frontend and just locking the draglink in place so it cant steer. Did Ford have a passenger side pumpkin on any of their 1/2 tons? I know Chevy does but I want to use coil springs I didn't want to have to redo the spring mounts. Even a smaller vehicle axle would work. I would have a wide and narrow track for the mudholes.
Dodge had a 6X6 personel carrier in WW 2 that was made using stock power wagon parts, except that the 3rd axle was centered, because the 2nd axle was offset. Bob
Land Rover has one...i know that for a fact...but i would assume that you would have to drop some serious dough for that.....why not shorten an axle tube....they make 9" front ends for stuff now so i dont see why you can get custom axles and axle tubes made to fit.....lil out of my leauge but tring to help...
