My truck started missing really bad so i took it to the stealership and got them to try and find out what was wrong with it. They told me the EGR ports were clogged and that the exhaust gaskets were leaking causing the O2 sensors to throw codes and something about some little clip that is broke it serves the same purpose as opening the back 2 barrels on a 4 barrell card. if anyone else has had this problem please let me know cause the mech told me that it is a problem with the engines and in about 50 thousand miles ill have to do it again its got 111,000 miles on it and havent had to do it yet but if its true im gonna sell it. thanks in advance
I wish that I could help you, but I have never heard of this problem with these engines before. I have almost 70,000mi on mine and I have never had anything done to it other than the normal maintence. I have heard the thing about the airflow before though. Seems to me that I read a post a long time ago that talked about it. You may look through the 4.2L forums and see if folks have had this problem in the past.
By the way, do you like Beaufort? I always liked it down there. I almost went to college there I liked it so much.
well i got my turck back and its doin the same thing took it back and he said it was the spark plugs so i changed them and its still doin the same thing 546 dollars down the drain gonna change the plugs and fuel filter tomorrow and if its still not fixed im gonna take it in and demand my money back
I think the fuel filter is a good thing to check. This may sound dumb but the air filter would be another good thing to check. I once drove a car that had never had the air filter changed and it would miss out at higher rpms and would try and die when going down the road.
i changed the plug wires and i it still did it a lil and i kept puttin fuel injector cleaner in when i filled up and it dept doin the same thing just lighter and light er then finally one day it sputterd and then took off like a spotted butt ape check engine light went off (thank god its been on every since i had the thang) and aint had a problem with it since. knock on wood
yeah me too cause if it starts actin up again i live down a really long curvy county road i might just "fall asleep" at the wheel one day lol not really i love my baby to much my wife backed into my wheel the other day and i almost gave birth to a baby calf lol anyway dirt strip where do you live in In i lived there for 5 yrs and since im from the south im glad to be outta there now
I live in western Indiana. Greencastle. I love it here, as long as you are in the country its great, but I have a lot of family in the South and would like to move back down there one day.
